Bahuchara Mata is an Indian Goddess worshiped in West and North India especially Gujrat and Rajasthan.Bahuchara Mata is regarded as Goddess of Fertility and is worshipped by childless couples who wish for a child.She is also worshipped by the transgenders or Hijras who atone for their sins and karma of past and present life. Bahuchara Mata is considered incarnation of Devi Parvati .She is shown as a beautiful goddess with the Trident Trishul in one hand and hindu scriptures on the other hand.She uses a rooster as a vehicle and roosters are considered dear to Her. Lord Hanuman is a God worshipped by Hindus.He is considered the greatest devotee of Lord Ram.He is also considered incarnation of Lord Shiva and played a very important role in Ramayana. In this blog we will discuss about some of the facts about Hanuman,an epitome of devotion and strength.

Hanuman's Guru

Hanuman was a student of Lord Surya and learnt the Vedas,Scriptures and other brahmin knowledge from Lord Surya.Lord Hanuman is described as an intelligent brahmin having knowledge of Vedas in the Ramayana. It is because of this reason when Lord Ram came searching for Sugreev , Hanuman took disguise as a Brahmin to know the identity of Lord Ram.

Lord Hanuman is also called Bajrangbali

Bajrangbali is derived from Vajra + Ang + Bali. Vajra is the weapon of Lord Indra which was unbreakable and had strength of Thunder and lightning.Ang means body and Bali represents the strength. So Bajrangbali means the one who has an unbreakable body like Vajra and has immense strength.Hanuman got this name also because Lord Indra struck him with Vajra when He was a child and tried to eat the sun mistaking it for a fruit.

What does Hanuman mean

The word Hanuman mean disfigured jaw.This is because Lord Indra hit Hanuman with Vajra on the chin (Hanu) when He was a child and took sun as a fruit. The vajra disfigured Hanuman's jaw and the name Hanuman came into being.

Why is Sindoor or Vermilion offered to Lord Hanuman

There is an interesting story behind this.Once Lord Hanuman saw Lord Ram's wife Sita apply Sindoor.When asked Mata Sita told Hanuman that this is for the long life of Her husband Lord Ram.Hanuman then applied Sindoor all over His body for long life of Lord Ram.This incident shows the devotion of Hanuman towards Lord Ram.He is also described as the First among His Devotees by Lord Ram.

Lord Hanuman and Bhim are Brothers

This is an interesting fact about Lord Hanuman.Bajrangbali is also called Vayuputra which means son of Vayu Dev.Bhim was born to Kunti because of the mantra of Vayu Dev which means Bhim is also son of Vayu Dev.This means Lord Hanuman and Bhim are brothers.

Hanuman's hunger and Tulsi

Once Lord Hanuman visited Mata Sita in the ashram to eat food made by Mata Sita.Hanuman ate a lot but His hunger was not fulfilled.Vegetables and ration of the ashram was getting finished.This is when Lord Ram told Sita to serve Tulsi or Basil leaves to Hanuman.After eating Tulsi,Lord Hanuman's hunger was satisfied.

Hanumanji was incarnation of Lord Shiva

Lord Hanuman is an incarnation of Lord Rudra.Shiv Purana mentions Hanuman as an incarnation of Lord Shiva.
