Bahuchara Mata is an Indian Goddess worshiped in West and North India especially Gujrat and Rajasthan.Bahuchara Mata is regarded as Goddess of Fertility and is worshipped by childless couples who wish for a child.She is also worshipped by the transgenders or Hijras who atone for their sins and karma of past and present life. Hinglaj Mata Mandir


Hinglaj Mata Mandir is a temple and shrine dedicated to Hinglaj Mata in Lasbela area of Balochistan in Pakistan.Hinglaj Mata Mandir is one of the 51 Shaktipeeths located near the Hingol River.It is one of the most visited pilgrimage place in Pakistan for Hindus.

History of Hinglaj Mata Mandir in Pakistan

According to Hindu scriptures, upset by the disrespect by her father Devi Sati jumped in the fire of Havan Kund.Lord Shiva became very angry and started dancing in anger carrying Devi Sati's body with Him.Lord Vishnu and other Devas felt that Shiva needs to be pacified,Lord Vishnu used His chakra to cut Sati's body into 51 pieces.The place where these pieces fell on earth are today known as Shakti Peeths.It is believed that the head of Devi Sati fell at Hinglaj Mata Mandir and it is of great significance to Hindus.


Hinglaj Mata Mandir Pakistan Yatra 

Hinglaj Mata Mandir is located about 250 KM from Karachi.Hinglaj Mandir Yatra is considered to be one of the most difficult yatras including that of Amarnath Yatra.The pilgrims need to travel around 50 KMs on foot to reach the shrine.The pilgrims face difficulties in this yatra due to high hills,sandy desserts  and forests.The route is also not safe because of terrorists,dacoits and also the wild animals.The Pakistan government proivdes little or no security for the pilgrims.Earlier this yatra took more than 3 months but post 2007 after the Chinese built the roads,the distrance is reduced to 50 KMs from over 200 KMs.

First Phase of Yatra - Baba Chandragup

The first phase of the Hinglaj Mandir Yatra is a mud volcano.It is the first stop and is considered holy by the Hindus.People confess their sins to the volcano and consider it as an embodiment of Lord Shiva and hence the name Baba Chandragup.

Second Phase of Yatra - Valley of Hinglaj

The second phase involves travelling through the beautiful and dangerous valley of Hinglaj.The valley itself is considered sacred and worshipped as Devi Hinglaj itself.

Muslims Devotion to Hinglaj Mata

Muslims in Pakistan also worship Hinglaj Mata and consider this pilgrimage equal to Hajj.It is believed that all wishes of the devotees are fulfilled who visit the shrine and undertake the Yatra.Hindus call the shrine as Hinglaj Mata,the Muslims call it Bibi Nani Peer or Nani Mandir or Nani Hajj.

Significance of Hinglaj Mata Mandir

The shrine is at its peak during the two Navratris where Hindus and Muslims from all parts of Pakistan flock to the temple.People from India,Britain and other countries also visit the shrine during this time.It is estimated that about 25 thousand people visit the shrine daily during the nine days of Navratri.Hinglaj Mata is also the Kuldevi of many warriors and brahmins.It is also believed that Lord Ram after killing Ravana visited the temple to seek the Devi's blessings.   




Hinglaj Mata Mandir in India

If someone wants to visit Hinglaj Mata in India then the temple of Hinglaj Mata is situated near Bhopal in the Raisen district of Madhya Pradesh.The two jyotis here are believed to be burning from over 500 years and were brought from the Hinglaj Devi shrine in Pakistan.Devotees in Indian states of MP,Rajasthan and Gujrat come to seek blessings specially during Navratri.
